LED PHOTOTHERAPY

LED Phototherapy is a non-invasive hand and facial treatment that uses narrow band, non-thermal LED light energy to trigger your body’s natural cell processes to accelerate rejuvenation and repair of the skin. It’s recommended for skin rejuvenation, sun damage, acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, sensitive and inflammatory conditions, wound healing and scarring as well as anyone looking to restore skin’s radiance.

WHAT DOES LIGHT THERAPY DO?

LED Light Therapy is great in every single facial to calm any areas of irritation and it’s also brilliant at brightening the skin.

When used consistently, over time, LED lights are thought to penetrate your skin at different depths and cause various reactions in your skin, such as fighting acne-causing bacteria, plumping skin and reducing wrinkles.

A course of treatments offers corrective and long-lasting results, although you’ll be able to see a difference after the first session. Light therapy is also particularly calming, so you’ll leave feeling refreshed. Light Therapy is good for all skin types, literally everyone, and incredible for rosacea

HOW DOES LIGHT THERAPY WORK?

LED Light Therapy uses colour wavelengths of visible light which have specific skin benefits. As a result of ageing, skin disorders or trauma, healthy skin cells are compromised and unable to renew themselves normally.

The skin uses the light as a source of energy to fuel the repair and rejuvenation of damaged cells, or, in the case of treating acne, kill bacteria. The energy stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, boosts circulation and accelerates tissue repair. During the treatment, you’ll simply lie underneath a light screen while the device does all the work.

We use LED in every single facial. We start with the cleaning of the skin which includes a Lactic brightening peel and extractions if needed. We then go onto the advanced side of the facial and finish with a full session (20 minutes) of LED.

If someone is coming only for LED we clean the skin, then apply LED and SPF to finish.

WHAT TYPES OF LIGHT ARE THERE AND WHAT DO THEY DO?

Blue Light
This is a powerful antibacterial properties for the treatment of acne without irritation, reduces oil production, prevents future breakout and offers a UV-free alternative for the treatment of eczema and psoriasis.

Red Light
This increases natural hydration levels, reduced redness and inflammation, shrinks the appearance of pores, regulates oil production, improves circulation, accelerates skin repair as is a medically-approved treatment for rosacea.

Near Infra-Red Light
This is the most deeply absorbed wavelength, it increases cell permeability and absorbtion smooths lines and wrinkles, improves elasticity, reduces pain and inflammation, accelerates wound healing and heals cystic acne.

DOES LIGHT THERAPY HURT?

No, LED Light Therapy is completely non-invasive and does not hurt. All you’ll feel is a tiny bit of warmth.

CAN YOU GET A TAN FROM LIGHT THERAPY?

Nope! Light Therapy doesn’t use UV light so there’s no risk of tanning whatsoever.

MICRODERMABRASION

Microdermabrasion treatments are often referred to as the “lunchtime facial” because they can be completed in as little as thirty minutes at an aesthetic clinic or cosmetic dermatologist’s office. Because the microdermabrasion procedure is non-surgical and virtually painless, it is a safe and highly effective way to restore a clear, youthful glow to the skin.

BENEFITS:

Microdermabrasion sloughs off the dead and dull surface layers of the skin, stimulating an increase in collagen production and rejuvenation. Many patients see dramatic improvements in the tone, texture, and colour of treated areas after just one treatment. Microdermabrasion can also improve:

  • Oily or dull skin
  • Enlarged pores
  • Clogged pores
  • Fine lines
  • Mild acne scars
  • Mild complexion problems (such as uneven pigmentation or poor skin texture)

The benefits of microdermabrasion also include enhanced circulation and lymph flow, which promote the internal health of the skin.

MICRONEEDLING

Skin Needling also referred to as micro-needling and collagen induction therapy is a minimally invasive treatment to rejuvenate the skin. A motorised device with fine needles is used to create tiny microchannels in the top layers of the skin, which triggers the body to produce new collagen and elastin. Results include improved texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks. Initially you can see results within 10 days and these results accummulates for a period of 3 months post treatment.

At The Glam Bar we perform micro-needling treatments using a Skin Needling Pen. This professional facial procedure is performed by our Advanced Skin Care Specialist to achieve immediate and visible skin rejuvenation and renewal with long lasting effects.

This specialised rejuvenation treatment, designed for a wide range of skin conditions including sun damaged skin, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven texture, scarring and acne scarring. Micro-needling treatments stimulate collagen remodelling, improves restoration of volume and plumpness in the skin as well as treats large pores.

A course of 4-12 treatments is recommended for optimal results, this depends on the condition of one’s skin. A pen is used after numbing cream is applied. The aesthetician will then treat with the skin needling pen. Trans Dermal Solutions (TDS), ampules or specialised serums are applied directly after the skin has been treated. The skin soaks up the ampules or serums to give clients results that are long lasting and natural.

Prior to having Micro-needling, it is important to disclose any medication one is on, especially if one suffers from any heart condition.

The Pen is an automatic, high-speed vibrating device that uses a cartridge with multiple fine needles that pierce the skin vertically with minimal pain. The function of the pen increases the effectiveness of the treatment by rapidly making multiple insertions, quickly and clinically. This controlled injury triggers the skins wound healing response. The end result is smoother, firmer and younger looking skin.  Dermapen treatments are suitable for all skin types and recommended for anyone who suffers with scarring, acne scarring, enlarged pores, fine lines or wrinkles.

Pen treatments are performed as part of a regular antiaging monthly regime or to treat specific areas for example: scars, specific fine lines and wrinkles around eyes, mouth, cheeks, neck and décolleté.  Other areas of the body can be treated such as the abdomen, thighs, hands and arms. All forms of acne scars, surgical scars, stretch marks and burn contracture scars can safely be treated.

The results of pen treatments can be seen for months post-treatment. Results are accumulative. Initial results can be seen within 10 days. The best results of one single treatment can be seen up to 3 months post-treatment. The production of collagen will continue over a 90 day period.

The needle/s only penetrates the epidermis and does not remove it thus the skin’s natural protective barrier remains intact. The pierced epidermis rapidly heals in a matter of hours. After the procedure, the treated skin has the appearance of moderate sunburn which improves over 24 to 48 hours. The treatment is therefore not only very effective but also very safe with very few to no side effects or complications.

BENEFITS:

  • Uses your body’s own natural regenerative abilities and is therefore considered as a natural anti-ageing treatment.
  • Visibly tightens, lifts and rejuvenates skin.
  • Increases absorption of topical skin care products.
  • Reduces the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Reduces the appearance of acne scarring and stretch marks
  • Unprecedented results with no recovery time.

6-12 Micro needling treatments are required to obtain the best results. The number of treatments prescribed will depend on the clients required results and healing capabilities.

LASER FAQs

1. Is laser hair removal suitable for everyone?
Yes, EVERYONE!

2. Is the treatment painful?
We use the latest technology and offer painless hair removal.

3. Is the treatment safe?
There do not appear to be any long term side effects associated with our laser hair removal procedure.

4. How many treatments wil I need?
Treatments are generally spaced 4-12 weeks apart and a minimum of 6 treatments are required to see results. In some instances individuals may require more than 12 sessions as everyone responds differently.

5. Why is it necessary to purchase a course of treatments?
It is best to catch all hairs in their anagen growth cycle as hair removal works best during the anagen hair growth cycle

6. Will I get ingrown hair?
Because the laser energy is absorbed into the root follicle, it destroys it’s ability to produce hair. the procedure therefore eliminates ingrown hairs as well as bumps and discolouration associated with them.

7. When do I see results?
The best results are noticeable after 8-12 sessions.

8. Do hormones affect results?
Yes, hormones affect everything.

9. Can light hair or grey hair be removed?
Unfortunately, this procedure is ineffective when targeting grey, red/ orange and very light blonde hair.

10. How do I prepare for my laser session?
The targeted areas should be clean shaven the night before your appointment with us. You may not wax, pluck, veet, tweeze or epilate at least one month before your first session. Only shaving is recommended between sessions.

11. Is my laser package refundable?
No, it is not refundable or transferable.

12. How long before my appointment do I need to reschedule or cancel?

What is the difference between Laser and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)?

Laser Hair Removal has been clinically proven to be the most effective hair removal treatment for nearly all skin types.

Laser Hair Removal and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) are both light-based hair removal treatments and are often mistaken for each other, but there is a definite difference between the two.

The main difference between the two – and the most important difference to note when you are considering which treatment to undergo – is the light source used in each. IPL uses a broad spectrum of visible light wavelengths that works more like the beam from a torch, covering broader areas of the skin. Laser Hair Removal uses actual laser technology that targets specific, small, controlled areas of skin, significantly reducing the risk of skin damage.

Even though both are long-term procedures for the removal of unwanted hair, and they do work in similar ways, they are, in fact, two entirely separate technologies.

The principle of both Laser Hair Removal and IPL is that light energy is absorbed by areas of high pigment, such as hairs, heating the follicles and causing them enough damage to slow down growth, and in some cases, prevent growth entirely.

So if the principle is the same, why is there such a difference in the technologies?
Because not every light energy is created equal. They are not the same, and it is this difference that will make all the difference to you and your skin.

IPL uses a broad spectrum of visible light wavelengths. It is not a laser and cannot be focused as a concentrated beam – meaning, it cannot be focussed on a concentrated area. Because of this, the light is absorbed at different depths of your skin. The varying wavelengths and broad light span mean there is less control in application.

This specifically affects particular skin types, including all darker skin types. Olive skin through to darker shades are advised to avoid IPL. The general rule is that the darker the skin, the more unsafe IPL is. If you think about it, dark colours naturally absorb more light. Because of the way IPL works, this can lead to burns or other negative side effects for darker skin tones. So, in effect, IPL really only works relatively safely for lighter colour skin types.

The laser machines utilised in Laser Hair Removal use concentrated light beams that emit targeted and controlled bursts of light that penetrate small areas, damaging the hair follicles and causing hair growth to slow significantly or, in many cases, stop altogether. These lasers target the follicles precisely causing less damage to surrounding skin and tissue.

Also, laser machines use different light colours to target different types of skin and hairs. This means that darker skin tones can be safely treated with a certain laser type.

Laser Hair Removal treatments are more concentrated so long-term results are more effective than IPL. The nature of the laser is that they can focus light deeper into the pores of the skin, getting closer to treat the follicle and prevent hair growth. The specific nature also means that darker skin tones can be treated safely as less skin is exposed to the light energy, reducing the risk of damage. Fewer treatments may be required due to the power of the laser, making Laser Hair Removal more cost effective than IPL in the long term.
